In the first 10 days of the new administration, Trump issued an executive order, nearly identical to his 2020 Schedule F policy, that would allow mass firings of federal employees with no cause, replace experienced, nonpartisan public servants with political appointees, and eliminate long-standing civil service protections designed to ensure government accountability.
The Trump administration’s broader effort, outlined in Project 2025, is a roadmap to dismantle professional governance in favor of a partisan loyalty test. Without action, federal agencies responsible for public health, environmental safety, national security, and education would be filled with political appointees instead of qualified professionals.
Through this lawsuit, federal workers and public service advocates are fighting to protect democracy, ensure government accountability, and defend the public from dangerous political interference.
