Washington, D.C. – As the nation’s high Court begins a new term, Democracy Forward, a leading pro-democracy legal institution has announced the launch of “The People’s Guide to the 2024-25 Supreme Court Term,” a plain-language overview of key cases on the Supreme Court’s docket in the 2024-2025 term that highlights the impacts of the cases on everyday Americans. The People’s Guide to the 2024-2025 Supreme Court Term also discusses what the Court has not taken up yet this term.
“The Supreme Court’s decisions in the 2024-2025 term will shape issues from the ability of young people to access necessary health care to gun violence prevention measures, to the privacy of our online activities, affecting millions of Americans,” said Skye Perryman, President and CEO of Democracy Forward. “Yet, as we head into a pivotal election, there’s a growing focus on what the Court hasn’t taken up yet, leaving fundamental questions on the horizon. With the Court reportedly holding space in its schedule to hear cases regarding the upcoming election and with questions left unanswered in the last term about how the Court will ultimately rule on critical cases regarding access to abortion, including in dire emergencies, post-Dobbs, we cannot lose focus on the many ways the cases on the docket this term directly impact us all.”
Democracy Forward will update the People’s Guide as important new cases are considered by the Court.
