Senior Litigation Paralegal

Prior to joining Democracy Forward, she was a Paralegal Specialist, for the U.S. Department of Justice, Tort Claims Division. She has worked across various areas of law including torts, criminal, civil, administrative, and financial litigation. Early in her career, she contributed to high-profile cases such as U.S. vs. Philip Morris and U.S. vs. Winstar, while working as a contractor for the U.S. Department of Justice. Career highlights include supporting federal judges in appeal claims at the U.S. Department of Health and assisting a U.S. Assistant Attorney in winning a case on appeal at the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia.In addition to her legal work, Tanita also has 13 years of financial experience as a tax preparer, serving her family and community. Although she has a robust legal background, Tanita chose anon-traditional path, opting to invest in real estate and pursue entrepreneurship over attending law school. Outside of her professional life, Tanita enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling, and gardening. She is currently reading, “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, again! Tanita is a Washington, D.C. native with over 15 years of legal experience in both the private and federal sectors. Tanita currently has a B.S. in Business Law with a minor in Finance from Everest University and a Paralegal Certification from George Mason University.
