Sophie Gelber is a Legal Fellow at Democracy Forward.
Sophie graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2025. At Georgetown, Sophie served as the Symposium Editor of the American Criminal Law Review and a member of the steering committee for Georgetown’s Public Interest Corps. She was also a student attorney with Georgetown’s Civil Rights Clinic, a practicum student with the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection, and an extern with the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division at the U.S. Department of Justice. Over the summers, Sophie interned in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and here at Democracy Forward.
Prior to law school, Sophie worked as a Press Associate for Joe Biden for President in Florida. After moving to Washington, D.C., she worked on the communications team at Everytown for Gun Safety and then as a Press Assistant in the Office of Public Affairs at the Justice Department serving the Offices of the Attorney General, Deputy Attorney General, and Associate Attorney General, as well as the Civil Division. Sophie graduated with honors from Tufts University with a B.A. in English and is originally from Miami Beach, Florida.
