Kali Schellenberg

Senior Counsel

Kali Schellenberg serves as Senior Counsel at Democracy Forward.

Prior to joining Democracy Forward, Kali worked on pro-democracy litigation at Protect Democracy, including helping to develop litigation to address attacks on the civil service. She began her career as an Honors Attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where she litigated Title VII and USERRA cases in federal court. She then joined Relman Colfax, PLLC, where she litigated complex civil rights cases, including class actions and constitutional claims. At a boutique litigation firm, she handled pro bono challenges involving the First Amendment, due process, and Pennsylvania election law. During her career, Kali has represented clients in federal jury trials and has counseled organizations on a range of legal issues.

Kali clerked for Judge Legrome D. Davis of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She earned her J.D. with honors from Harvard Law School, and her B.A. from Brown University.

Kali is a member of the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Massachusetts bars.
