Jyotsna Rathinam is a Democracy 2025 Associate at Democracy Forward.
Prior to joining Democracy Forward, Jyotsna worked as a fellow at Save the Children, where she helped monitor and evaluate their humanitarian programs. Additionally, she completed communications internships at the NGO Blumont and the newsletter Politically Invisible Asians. During her time at Virginia Tech, she founded her school’s Amnesty International chapter, where she led grassroots initiatives in public education and human rights advocacy as well as coached her Model United Nations team in public speaking and international policy. She hopes to continue pursuing a career in advocacy, policy analysis, and data-driven research.
Jyotsna received a dual bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Economics with minors in French and Data Science from Virginia Tech. She plans to pursue advanced studies in the future.
