Erez Reuveni

Senior Counsel

Erez joins Democracy Forward with significant experience at the intersection of legal, policy, and operational challenges of immigration enforcement. Before joining Democracy Forward, Erez served as Acting Deputy Director in the Office of Immigration Litigation (OIL) of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Division, where he oversaw all litigation implicating immigration enforcement arising in the federal district courts. Previously, as a Counsel and Senior Counsel in the office of the Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division, Erez advised Civil Division leadership and agency clients on immigration-related litigation and policy matters. He also assisted in oversight of nearly 400 attorneys in all sections of OIL, including supervision of high profile cases arising in federal district courts and petitions for review challenging agency decisions in the federal courts of appeal. Over the course of his 15-year DOJ career, across multiple administrations, Erez personally handled or supervised teams handling many of the federal government’s most complex, highest-profile, and consequential immigration cases in the federal district and appellate courts, including constitutional, statutory, and regulatory challenges to agency action and administration priorities.

Erez received his J.D. summa cum laude from Boston University, where he was also an editor of the law review, and his B.A. magna cum laude from Brandeis University. He clerked for Judge Jon O. Newman on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and Judge Mark L. Wolf of the District of Massachusetts.
