Briana Clark

Counsel

Briana Clark is a Counsel at Democracy Forward.

Prior to joining Democracy Forward, Briana served as a civil rights prosecutor in the Criminal Section of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division. In that role, Briana investigated and prosecuted some of the most serious offenses committed by law enforcement officers across the country, including sex trafficking, sexual assault, aggravated assault, attempted murder, and in-custody deaths. She also investigated and prosecuted hate crimes, including shootings and beatings committed by individuals who targeted victims based on their protected identity. During her time at the Civil Rights Division, Briana also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney where she prosecuted sexual assault and domestic violence cases within the District of Columbia.  Prior to joining the Civil Rights Division, Briana clerked for the Honorable Patricia A. Millett on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and the Honorable Gary S. Feinerman on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. She also worked at Latham & Watkins where she built a robust pro bono practice focused on civil rights and racial justice issues.

Briana holds a J.D. from Yale Law School where she was an Executive Editor of the Yale Law Journal, a Policy Editor for the Yale Law & Policy Review, and the Vice President of the Black Law Students Association. Briana was also a triple major at the University of Georgia where she graduated summa cum laude.
