Andrea Matthews

Senior Counsel

Andrea Matthews is Senior Counsel at Democracy Forward.

Before joining Democracy Forward, Andrea was senior counsel and most recently Assistant General Counsel for Litigation at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, where she was a member of the agency’s defensive and appellate litigation team. Prior, Andrea served as an advisor to the CFPB’s Director, where she counseled senior agency leadership on questions of law, policy, and strategy across all of the CFPB’s tools. Andrea also litigated violations of federal consumer financial law in the CFPB’s Office of Enforcement, which she joined as an Honors Attorney.

Andrea received her J.D. from Harvard Law School, where she was a member of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau and a Heyman Fellow. She received her B.A. from Brown University with honors.
