Ally Scher

Senior Counsel

Ally Scher is Senior Counsel at Democracy Forward. 

Ally previously worked in the Federal Programs Branch of the U.S. Department of Justice, where she represented federal agencies in high-profile constitutional and statutory challenges to federal programs and regulations in district courts nationwide.

Prior to DOJ, she worked in the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Office of Law & Policy, where she advised the General Counsel and agency components on the CFPB’s authorities and other matters related to administrative law.  She also previously worked as a litigation associate at a law firm in DC.

She clerked for Judge Patricia Tolliver Giles on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and Judge Ana C. Reyes on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.  She graduated from New York University School of Law and Washington University in St. Louis.
