The truth is under attack at our national parks.

We need your help to protect it.

our national parks

What is happening with our national parks system?

The Trump-Vance administration is attempting to erase history and science from our national parks by censoring information that tells the true story of the United States. The Department of the Interior has flagged and begun taking action to censor and remove informational materials in parks across the country – from Glacier National Park to Fort Sumter to Independence Hall. These are materials that discuss the history of the United States, including: slavery and enslaved people, civil rights, treatment of Indigenous peoples, climate science, and more.

How can I help?

We are asking fans of America’s national parks to record their own videos answering the prompt: How has visiting, and learning from, a national park impacted your life?

Find a space that connects you to your story — a national park site, your own favorite nature or history spot, or even simply at the kitchen table — and record a short video answering the prompt.

Share the video on social media using the hashtag #OurParksOurHistory.

Or click on the link below to record a video and submit it straight to us. Videos will be amplified and shared by Democracy Forward and other coalition partners.

What else can I share?

Post these graphics to your social media channels with the hashtag to show your support and help spread the word:

The stories of our national parks deserve to be protected. That’s why I’m joining the campaign to stop the Trump-Vance administration from censoring truth in the national parks system. #OurParksOurHistory

Learn more about our lawsuit

On behalf of a broad coalition — including the National Parks Conservation Association, American Association for State and Local History, Association of National Park Rangers, Coalition to Protect America’s National Parks, Society for Experiential Graphic Design, and Union of Concerned Scientists — Democracy Forward is suing to challenge this censorship, hold the administration accountable, and protect the benefits national parks offer to all who visit.

National parks are America’s largest classroom, and the history they share must be protected.
